Lots of goings-on at MSP’s Airport Terminals. They are always refreshing concepts and adding more food, craft cocktails, and retail shops inspired by local Twin Cities favorites. Here are a few of the MSP airport restaurants I like to hit up when traveling.
MSP Airport Restaurants
The Cocktail Room at 18th and Central – Terminal 1 Concourse A
This new spot showcases exclusive spirits, liqueurs, and cocktails from Tattersall Distillery, accompanied by small bites like chips and dips, flatbreads, wings, popcorn, charcuterie platters or cheese plates.
Look for Tattersall Distillery spirits like Organic Vodka, Orange Crema, Aquavit, Barreled Gin and Ready to Drink Old Fashioneds, Gimlets and Salty Dogs.
PinKU Japanese Street Food – Terminal 1 – MSP Food Court
Enjoy authentic Japanese street food from celebrated local chef John Sugimura served in a chic pink tea house with a gorgeous two-story view onto the airfield. Look for sushi, delicious pot-stickers and dumplings and crispy shrimp.
Hi-Lo Diner – Terminal 1 – Concourse F
A mix of retro soups, salads, meatloaf, and the famous Hi-Top (fried dough topped with sweet or savory flavors).
Don’t miss the Gary Cooper High Top, which features a fried chicken thigh topped with maple syrup and gravy. Also indulge in a banana or root beer shake or breakfast all day features like chilaquiles or hash stuffed corned beef hash.
Black Sheep Pizza – Terminal 1 – MSP Mall
Black Sheep is a coal-fired pizza restaurant that gives the crust a bit of a char that imparts flavor. Try the meatball ricotta or fennel sausage, onion, salami, and green olives. Sit down, grab a slice to go or order with the airport app “At Your Gate.”
Bottle Rocket – Terminal 1 – Concourse C
You may remember Blue Plate Group’s Bottle Rocket in St. Paul. Well, it lives on at the airport offering “local fare with a little flare.” Check out the breakfast offerings including deviled eggs, shrimp toast or tasty wings.
Angel Food Bakery – Terminal 1 – Concourse E
Angel Food bakery, known for its delicious letter donuts and cupcakes and scones, is now at the airport for coffee and pastry.
*Fun Fact – Angel Food Bakery was the 2018 MSP Five-Star Award Winner for exemplary customer service.
Blue Door Pub – Terminal 1 Concourse A
Blue Door Pub is one of Minnesota’s favorite neighborhood spots featuring wings, flaming hot cheese curds, totchos, and the iconic Blue Cheese Blucy. What’s a Blucy? Think of the Juicy lucy stuffed with blue cheese and garlic or try the iconic Jiffy Burger, a single patty topped with pepper jack cheese, peanut butter, and bacon. I don’t know why it works, but it does.
Smack Shack – Terminal 1 Msp Mall
What started in 2010 as a food truck in Minneapolis has grown into a Twin Cities favorite. Load up on classic seafood offerings, including the iconic lobster roll on Texas Toast, Po’ Boy sandwiches the shack burgers, Cajun fries, and lobster guac.
Nordic Waffle Pop Up – Smack Shack – Terminal 1 Msp Mall
Nordic Waffle is popping up at Smack Shack in the MSP Mall at Terminal One with its delicious State Fair hit the Nordic Waffle. Try the Lobster Mac and Cheese stuffed in a crispy waffle wrap or the Lobster Hollandaise Nordic Waffle stuffed with scrambled egg, cream cheese, and house hollandaise. Both of these waffles are available for breakfast until 10:30 a.m. with Berries and Cream, Cinna Sugar Butter, or Salmon and Cream Cheese available the rest of the day.
