Virtual Bloody Mary Fest Tasting

A few years back, in the before times, I was a judge of the best Bloody Mary’s at the Bloody Mary Fest that happened at Union Depot. It was super fun to be able to taste all the local Bloody Mary’s from different restaurants and bars while tasting the nuances in the mixes.

This brings us back to the Pandemic. It is hard to gather thousands of Bloody Mary enthusiasts at Union Depot for a sampling event but our Bloody Mary Fest organizers were not deterred. They assembled a sampler pack of Bloody Mary mixes from all over the country and are holding a virtual Bloody Mary tasting on March 20, 2021, at 12 pm central time. When you purchase an $89 ticket you will get a Bloody Mary sampler box and for 90 minutes, you’ll drink & enjoy bloody marys with fellow Bloody Mary lovers from around the country in a Zoom environment where you get to hear the makers stories.

In your box, you will get 6 mixes, salt for your glass rims, a tote bag, and meat sticks. You will sample bloody mixes from the following folks:

Brewt’s Bloody Mary– Grand Rapids, Michigan

  • Heavy locally made Worcestershire for lots of Umami
  • Launched in 2015 by Emily Griffen and named after her dog, Brewtus

Backpocket Provisions– Richmond, Virginia

  • Sources “ugly tomato and fruits and vegetables” from local growers helping farmers reduce waste and increase profitability

Devil Dave’s Bloody Mary Seasonings– Rehoboth, Delaware

  • Family-owned from a Rehoboth Beach store in Deleware – these are dry mix seasonings
  •  all ingredients have been either dehydrated, milled, or granulated

Toma Bloody Mary– New Rochelle, New York

  • The Foodies Bloody mix – a base mix of homemade sriracha and chipotle tomatillo and has won awards throughout the East coast

Pittsburgh Pickle Company– Verona, Pennsylvania 

  • Pickle brine bloody mary mix infused with the brine from Pittsburgh pickle company

Nan’s Naughty and Nice– Wisconsin

  • From Hudson Wisconsin and brought to market by Nan’s daughter Peggy, Nans is a Premium non-alcoholic bottled bloody Mary mix made with all-natural ingredients. Gluten-Free, vegan, and no MSG or High Fructose Corn Syrup

I really enjoy hearing stories about local makers. I have participated in a few virtual tastings and they are fun and I love Bloody Mary’s so if you are looking for something fun to do make sure to get your virtual ticket by Friday, March 5th as they are likely to sell out.
