There are many ways to cook fresh garden green beans, but roasted green beans offer a delicious and simple preparation that enhances their natural flavors.
Here are a few popular methods for cooking green beans:
- Blanching: Boil green beans briefly until they turn bright green, then plunge them into ice water to stop cooking. This keeps them crisp and bright. These are tossed into bean salads or served cold on a veggie platter.
- Steaming: Steam green beans until tender-crisp. This method retains nutrients well but make sure you get them El Dente and shock in cold water to stop the cookig process
- Sautéing: Heat a bit of olive oil or butter in a pan, add green beans, and cook over medium-high heat until they’re tender and slightly browned – add a squeeze of lemon to finish.
- Stir-Frying: Cook green beans quickly in a hot pan with other vegetables and seasonings. This stir fry method keeps them crunchy and flavorful. Try pairing with other veggies like red peppers and onions
- Grilling: Brush green beans with oil and grill them over medium-high heat until they’re charred and tender.
