Kimchi Fried Rice in the Instant Pot or on the Stove Top
Kimchi fried rice is a delicious and easy-to-make Korean dish. It is made with kimchi, rice, eggs, and other vegetables. The kimchi gives the fried rice its characteristic flavor and heat.

Instant Pot Kimchi Fried Rice
This easy Instant Pot rice is perfect when topped with an egg fried in chili crisp or accompanied by a grilled pork chop.
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons Sesame Oil
- 1 cup Rice
- ½ cup Kimchi (I like Cleveland Classic Kimchi)
- 1 cup Water
- 1-2 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
Instructions
- Press Saute and add oil to the Instant Pot.
- Now add rice and stir to coat each grain of rice
- Add kimchi and soy sauce to the pot and stir
- Turn the pot off and restart with the vent in the sealing position, and pressure cook on manual for 5 minutes. When the timer beeps, let it come to natural pressure for 5 minutes and then do Quick Release.
Notes
Optional to garnish with chopped cilantro or green onions, or sesame seeds
You can top rice with an egg cooked in chili crisp, grilled chicken thighs, or alongside a pork chop

You will need:
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 cup kimchi, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1 carrot, chopped
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the sesame oil and cook the onion and carrot for 5 minutes, or until softened.
- Add the kimchi and cook for 2 minutes, or until heated through.
- Push the kimchi to the side of the skillet and add the egg. Scramble the egg until cooked through.
- Add the rice, soy sauce, and black pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes, or until the rice is heated through.
- Stir in the green onions and serve immediately.
Kimchi fried rice is a great way to use up leftover rice and kimchi. It is also a good source of vegetables and protein. Enjoy!
