Cranberry Orange Sauce

Cranberry Orange Sauce

Yield: 8

This fresh cranberry sauce has a nice orange flavor that compliments the turkey.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed from 1 large orange
  • Zest from one large orange
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries

Instructions

  • Combine sugar, honey, water, orange juice, orange zest, and 1 cinnamon stick.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar and honey
  • Add 12 oz cranberries and bring to a boil. Once boiling, adjust the heat to keep it at a low boil and cook for 10 minutes uncovered, stirring occasionally. Cranberries will burst, and the sauce will begin to thicken. Keep in mind the sauce will thicken when it cools.
  • Remove from heat, discard cinnamon stick, and cool cranberry sauce to room temperature, then refrigerate until ready to serve.
