Locals to Love

Over in my Instagram stories, I’ve started sharing some of my favorite local shops. I love to shop local every holiday season, and it’s more important than ever this year. I will continue to add to this locals to love list throughout the holiday season, so make sure to check back to find some great options for all of your holiday shopping.

Twin Cities Small Business Locals To Love

Birchbark Books

Birchbark Books is not only a wonderful small business, it is a Native-owned bookstore. They offer a wide variety of Native-focused books and gifts, but they sell all the best sellers you are looking for, too. As an added bonus, their website includes photos of all their cute pets. Shop Birchbark Books.

Sketchy Betsy

Betsy Durow started Sketchy Betsy as a way to create playful, fun digital illustrations. Her business grew as people fell in love with her custom designs of people and pets. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind holiday gift, a Betsy sketch is perfect. Shop Sketchy Betsy.

Happy Food MN

Healthy living can be fun. Anna Klimmek started Happy Food MN as a way to take a holistic approach to health fun and, well, approachable. She teaches cooking classes that are created for your body and lifestyle, and her holistic approach includes improving your sleep, productivity, and overall happiness. Right now, Happy Food MN is offering virtual charcuterie board classes.

Pie & Joy

The holiday pie season starts with Thanksgiving, but it definitely doesn’t end there. Pie & Joy makes some of my favorite pies for any time of year, and right now is prime pie time. No matter the size of your holiday gathering, you’ll find the perfect dessert for any occasion. Shop Pie & Joy.

Mrs. Kelly’s Tea

Most years, Mrs. Kelly’s tea offers wonderful tea tasting classes. This year, we’ll miss out on that fun tradition, but like so many places they are making the best of the situation and bringing their tea tasting to you. You can purchase at home tasting kits, which feature a random sampling of their wonderful blended teas. Shop Mrs. Kelly’s tea.

Face Foundrie

The Face Foundrie was founded on the idea of creating a spa experience for busy women. They offer walk-in services and an array of skincare and wellness products. Right now, they are highlighting favorite products and other local businesses on the Face Foundrie Instagram page. Shop Face Foundrie.

Magers & Quinn

Magers & Quinn is one of my favorite independent bookstores. Plus, they currently have a great setup for curbside pickup. The shop includes any book you or your loved ones could want, including signed copies and great cookbook collections. Shop Magers & Quinn.

Char Mason Art

Char Mason is a wonderful local artist who paints beautiful portraits of pets. Her paintings are truly unique gifts for any pet owner in your life. Shop Char Mason Art.

Taking Stock Bone Broth at Abundant Kitchen

Taking Stock makes some of the best bone broths you’ll find anywhere. I shop for mine at Abundant Kitchen, one of my favorite foodie shops in the Twin Cities. Their store offers a huge variety of cookware and kitchen needs for every home chef. Shop The Abundant Kitchen.

Kitchen Window

Cooking classes at Kitchen Window are back! They have a virtual gnocchi making class on December 3, and are starting to offer some in-person options, as well. Their shop is a great place for kitchenwares, and their classes can’t be beat. Shop Kitchen Window.

Spoonful Apparel

There are some super cute designs from the folks and Spoonful Apparel, which offers men’s, women’s, and kid’s shirts, as well as accessories. Best of all, their business model includes donating 50% of profits to fighting childhood hunger. Shop Spoonful Apparel.

Market BBQ

Market BBQ is one of the oldest, and best barbecue joints in the Twin Cities. They are open for curbside and delivery right now, and hopefully, they will offer more meals like the Thanksgiving pre-order. Shop Market BBQ.

Shepherd’s Way Farms

I LOVE Shepherd’s Way Farms artisan sheep’s milk cheese. Order a gift pack—even if it’s just for yourself! You’ll definitely thank me later. Shop Shepherd’s Way Farms.

Vivir is a Mexican cafe, market, and bakery that just opened in Northeast Minneapolis. If you shop here, look for Harmony Cricket Farm cricket flour! It’s owned by two women. Shop Viv!r.

Stephanie’s Shop

You knew I would pick Stephanie’s Shop as a Locals to Love pick, right?! I love shopping here for beautiful scarves and statement jackets (remember by sequined blazer?!). So many fun items!

I picked up this cake decorating bulb from Patina, one of my favorite local shops for gifts, cards, ornaments, candles and kitchen gadgets. The decorating bulb worked like a charm for decorating my pumpkin pies with whipped cream on Thanksgiving! Shop Patina.

Vine Park Brewing Co.

Vine Park Brewing Co. beer and the BEST root beer would be a great gift for the holidays. I am currently on my third root beer float of the season. Shop Vine Park.

Essence One

Essence One is a body care company that raises awareness of mental health and wellness by creating all-natural aromatherapy products. You can listen to me catch up with founder Lauren Vanscoy on my Makers of MN podcast. Shop Essence One.
