My “Best Things Ever”
I met Cheryl at Art In Bayfront Park in the culinary market. Her nut butters were getting lots of attention. These nut butters are so much better than store-bought peanut butter or from what’s all gunky and separated at the Co-ops. The flavors are so fresh tasting and her flavor combinations are fun and fresh. Try the Nutty Monkey Butter with Cashews, Peanuts, and banana chips it sweet and spectacular. I love making peanut noodle salads and wraps and her Rosemary and Garlic Almond Butter or Ginger Lemon and Garlic Peanut Butter are perfect for mixing into noodles or making chicken satays with rice. Look for their new Holiday gift packs.
I moved recently and each Saturday after weekly dish I peruse the store Succotash on 781 Raymond near University. They specialize in records, clothing, housewares, and furnishings from the Mid-Century style. The store is owned by a husband and wife and they have great style and kitsch factor. Look for Vintage Pyrex, Dansk, or Fiesta Ware as well as linens and small housewares and bar sets.
Milk and Honey Hard Ciders are Minnesota craft cider made from American heirloom and cider apple varieties. They are not too sweet and you can tell the variation between varieties. Their Golden Russet Cider is sold in a 1.5-liter “bagnum” and is perfectly dry and crisp and would be at home on a Thanksgiving table or as a pre-game for the big feast. The cidery’s taproom is in St Joseph and a beautiful location with plenty of outdoor seating, live music, and event space. Drink Cider made from apples grown right here in Minnesota. You can order direct from the cidery or find at Surdyks and other local liquor stores.
