Sangrita with Hornitos Tequila
Happy end of 2020. Really we should be rejoicing in the streets that this dumpster fire of a year is over. Pandemic, politics, the George Floyd murders, and the Me Too movement all created a year of unrest and anxiety with the needed change that we will feel for years to come. For one, I will be having Champagne on New Year’s Eve and Sangritas on New Years Day with bagels, cream cheese, lox, scallions, capers, and lemon juice.
Sangritas are typically served alongside a Tequila shot, but I like to serve them with a Tajin rimmed glass like a Michelada over ice. They are like a citrusy, Bloody Mary and oh so delicious. Try them on New Years Day and take a minute to rejoice that 2020 is behind us.
Ingredients:
- 5 oz Hornitos Tequila
- 1 part orange juice
- 2 part tomato juice
- 1 part lime juice
- 5 drops Worchester sauce
- 2 drops Tabasco Sauce
- Tajin rimmed glass (you can use Kosher Salt if you prefer)
Instructions:
- Put Tajin in a saucer.
- Rub a lime wedge around your glass – getting the rim wet.
- Place the glass upside down on the saucer and spin the glass so that the Tajin fully coats the rim of the glass.
- Mix all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake well.
- Pour shaken ingredients into your glass
