If you just realized Mother’s Day is Sunday and you have no reservations and no idea what you are going to do to honor your Mother, never fear! I have plans for you! You can thank me later!
Head to Bachmans:
Take your mom to the original Bachmans’. It is lovely this time of year with all the spring flowers and garden plants but there is also a delicious French Café inside called Patrick’s Bakery and Café that has baked goods, quiche, light sandwiches, and salads and is situated in the store amongst a tropical oasis of plants which feels heavenly to sit in after a long winter. Have a salad and a piece of quiche and grab your mom a flowering basket on the way out!
Minnehaha Park and Minnehaha Falls have its own restaurant that specializes in seafood including tacos, clam fries, fish curries, red beans and rice and a variety of Po Boys including shrimp, oyster, and fish. Sitting outside after a brisk walk down to the Falls is a great way to spend an afternoon and the food at Sea Salt is delicious. If your mom likes to Rose all day, she will be very happy at Sea Salt as they have one of the best selections of Rose and White wines on ice and ready to go for moms.
The Salty Tart in St. Paul sits right outside the Farmers Market in St. Paul so its like a two for one. Get yourself a vanilla honey latte and the fabulous Avocado Toast at Salty Tart that is so beautiful it looks like a work of art. After you fill up head to the St Paul Farmers Market and pick up some flowering baskets for Mom.
If your mom fancies Hard Cider you can be on the cutting edge by introducing her to the newest Cidery, Minneapolis Cider Company, that is opening this weekend. I got a sneak peek this week, and their Raspberry and Citrus Hop Ciders were on point. They will have a few snacks on site including a charcuterie board that features all local cheeses including that delicious Shepherd Way Queso Fresco dry aged sheep’s milk cheese.
If your mom is the type that loves a good queue, head over to Animales BBQ truck at Able Seed Brew House. You can get mom all nestled in at the Brew House while you wait outside for some of the Twin Cities best BBQ including Jerk chicken, Pork Ribs and various types of tacos and bowls with pulled meats and Rib tips. From there head next door to Minnesota Nice Cream for a wickedly good soft serve chocolate waffle cone sprinkled with glitter and fun. No mom can resist a glitter covered ice cream cone.
Who doesn’t love a Sunday Movie especially one that is paired with cocktails, burgers, and bar snack and warm chocolate chip cookies for dessert? The Alamo Draft house in Woodbury will catch your mom up on the latest releases in the comfort of their plush theater that has fantastic dining options. The new Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson remake of the Steve Martin and Michael Caine classic, “ Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” called “The Hustle” is playing this weekend as well as that little movie you may have heard of called “Avengers End Game”.
