The Brand name for the Salad Girl Organic Dressing Company sprouted from a summer job owner/founder Pam Powell had as a teenager working as the “Salad Girl” at Madden’s Resort on Gull Lake in Northern Minnesota. Her favorite part of the job was crafting the house-made salad dressings from the variety of delicious, fresh locally farmed ingredients that was delivered to the back door of the Lumber Town kitchen by the local farmers.
As a sprouting artist, hand-crafting unique salads accompanied by homemade, fresh organic vinaigrettes made with unique seasonal ingredients was definitely Pam’s forte, but little did she know that it would lead her to a life-long love of preparing fresh seasonal organic salads & dressings to supplement her artist income, and she definitely never thought that thirty years later she would be naming her Organic salad dressing Company after it. In 2007, after years of catering salads and selling her dressings from her home, with lots of help from family and friends, Pam brought her delicious line of fresh homemade organic dressings to Mill City farmers market.
They sold out each weekend and soon the Powells began to fill the refrigerated produce shelves of the local area Grocery stores and co-ops. Now 12 years later you can find all 11 of Salad Girl’s Fresh organic Salad dressings, marinades, and dips on the shelves of almost 500 stores throughout the Midwest!
Currently, there are eleven varieties of Salad Girl Salad dressings, including Blueberry Basil, Curry Fig, Pomegranate Pear, Crisp Apple Maple, Toasted Sesame Ginger, Sweet and Sassy, Citrus Splash, Dude Ranch, Creamy Caesar, Lemony Herb, and Chile Limon. You can find Salad Girl in your grocer’s refrigerator section near the fresh greens.
